Will the future of education in Africa include all children, no matter who they are, where they live or what abilities they have? Will teachers have the skills, tools and support they need? How will AI and digital technology shape the way children and young people learn and grow?
For three days in Nairobi in November 2025, a group of young people and experts gathered to explore these questions and many more at the Leading Minds Conference 2025: The future of education in Africa.
The conference was led by the UNICEF Innocenti Youth Foresight Fellows and featured prominent experts on education in Africa. Using data and evidence, participants outlined the challenges that education faces in Africa and made us of tested foresight methodologies to present possible futures.
At the core of the conversation was the conviction that the actions of policymakers, teachers, business leaders, parents, communities and learners need to act now to ensure the best possible future for education in Africa.
