The annual IVCO conference brings together leaders of volunteering agencies worldwide in a unique conversation focusing on the trends, challenges and opportunities facing volunteering in development. It is a unique space for Forum members and other volunteer-involving organisations to exchange experiences, ideas and innovations and to build their networks.

The location for IVCO typically rotates regions each year. The IVCO 2024 conference will take place from the 9th to the 12th of September 2024 in Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom. Northumbria University will lead the preparations for hosting IVCO 2024 with support from Forum’s Ireland-based member organisation Comhlámh. The theme for IVCO 2024 is ‘Building and Sustaining Connections for Change: Volunteering for Solidarity’. You can learn more about the next IVCO here.

Expressions of Interest

If you are interested in hosting IVCO in 2025 or in 2026, please share a short expression of interest with James via email.

Please send us a few paragraphs covering:

  • Which year your organisation is interested in hosting.
  • The reasons for your interest and any ideas you have about possible themes.
  • Tell us in which country or region your organisation hopes to host IVCO.

Deadlines:

  • Apply by 31 December 2023 to host IVCO 2025.
  • Apply by 31 March 2024 to host IVCO 2026.

We provide a lot of advice and support to the IVCO host each year. Hosting organisations work closely with Forum’s IVCO Working Group, which includes all recent IVCO hosts, to plan and deliver the conference. Future hosts typically shadow the current IVCO hosts as they prepare for the conference.

If you think you may be interested in hosting, but you are not quite sure, or you would like more information, don’t hesitate to contact James.
