- The Boao Forum for Asia to be hosted in Perth on 29-31 August
- 'Clean Energy Contributes to Sustainable Development in the Asia Pacific' is the forum's theme
- Opportunity to promote WA as a destination for investment and trade
The influential Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) conference begins today in Perth, with a focus on clean energy and sustainable development.
Perth was chosen to host the conference, due to Western Australia's globally renowned energy sector and its close proximity to Asia.
The forum provides a platform for high-level dialogue between Governments, business, academics, and other non-government organisations, to discuss regional economic and trade issues.
Approximately 180 Government and industry representatives will attend the conference, with almost half travelling from across the Asia-Pacific region.
The BFA first formed in 2001, and brings together 28 countries. The Perth conference is an offshoot of the major Boao Forum, which occurred earlier in the year in China.
The Premier will address the 'Clean Energy Contributes to Sustainable Development in the Asia Pacific' conference, and attend a welcome dinner hosted by the WA Government at the State Reception Centre in Kings Park.

Comments attributed to Premier Roger Cook:
"The Boao Forum for Asia Conference is a fantastic opportunity to showcase what makes Western Australia a key location for investment and trade.
"Hosting such a significant collection of high-powered business and industry leaders is a major coup for our city and our State, which will further enhance WA's reputation in the Asian market.
"It is also a chance to discuss the future of clean energy and our continued efforts towards decarbonisation.
"I am sure all attendees of the BFA will be impressed by what WA and the nation has to offer."
