Since the Taliban takeover, the narrative across the media suggests an overwhelming concern with the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan. Through a report released by our partners, DROPS and SOAS, Afghan women continue to highlight the lack of awareness of women’s rights in conflict spaces. The report confirms that women live in a reality where mounting restrictions affect their ability to survive. Engaging in the realities and agency of Afghan women provides an alternative route to furthering policy and advocacy in this under researched area.

As part of this event, we will be displaying recent findings of the BISHNAW survey on women and mental health in Afghanistan with 2112 women in 18 provinces. Alongside engaging with our panel of activists and thought-leaders to share different perspectives and experiences on the topic of women and mental health.
