FORMAL ANNOUNCEMENT: 7TH GCE WORLD ASSEMBLY
Johannesburg, South Africa 22nd - 24th November 2022
On behalf of the Board, we write to you regarding the next GCE World Assembly.
The 7th in-person Global Campaign for Education (GCE) World Assembly will take place from November 22nd to the 24th, 2022, in Johannesburg, South Africa. This email is being sent to all our members to notify and announce these dates so they can mark their calendars appropriately and save them.
Following the COVID-19 pandemic and various challenges we have all faced in the last 2-3 years, the World Assembly presents a significant and opportune moment for the representatives of all of our member organisations to get together again, exchange experiences, and speak with one voice on the current challenges in education. Additionally, the World Assembly will elect its new President and endorse new Board members elected through the Constituency/Regional Assemblies. More information will be shared through your constituency representatives.
We will provide you with a draft agenda and a timetable in the coming weeks after the GCE Board has approved it. We will also be sending more information regarding the exact venue for the World Assembly, the number of participants per member to be sponsored by GCE, lodging options and cost details in case there are members who would like to sponsor additional participants from their membership.
Please note that GCE will only be able to cover the cost of members in good standing. This includes payment of all outstanding membership fees until 31 December 2021.
For you to contribute to the World Assembly preparations in a timely manner, a list of statutory and non-statutory deadlines will also be issued, particularly the submissions of resolutions and recommendations for revising the GCE Constitution and by-laws. We are now engaged in the planning and preparations for the World Assembly, and we'll keep you all updated.
Thank you and we look forward to working on this important event with you all in the coming months.
In solidarity,
The GCE Secretariat.
