A very short thought to start a super intense day with: Will the CIAA, the national anticorruption body reopen the investigation against GaneshThapa? How long will he take for him to introspect and resign? It is true that he still can appeal the decision taken by the Adjudicatory Chamber of the Independent Ethics Committee but at least Thapa should consider, once again, a voluntary suspension from his position. He said that he is disappointed with the decisions and he is looking forward to have the possibility to study the verdict. Fair enough, innocent till proven guilty but the FIFA sentence is pretty straightforward. Hopefully, despite the change in the government and the fact that the RPP-N is now in power ( Thapa himself is a member of parliament, though not through election and his brother is Deputy Prime Minister and Ministry of Foreign Affairs), the parliamentary Public Accounts Committee, PAC, will once again, look at the case and put pressure on the CIAA. In his best interests, Thapa should welcome a thoroughly investigation and at least he should recuse himself till a new full investigation is carried out in Nepal.
Will the CIAA start a new investigation?
