HD is an impartial and independent non-profit foundation that now runs peacemaking initiatives in more than 80% of the world’s violent conflicts, including longstanding projects in Asia.
HD was awarded the Carnegie Wateler Peace Prize last year in recognition of our contributions to international peace since 1999.
Often working behind the scenes to strengthen communication and build trust, HD helps conflict parties to find a common vision of a better future with comprehensive, inclusive peace agreements that reduce human suffering caused by war and create the conditions for stability and development.
“The HD Asia Peace Fund provides a platform for private philanthropists and donors who are passionate about fostering peace through dialogue and mediation to come together and pool their resources in a meaningful way,” said Ms Wu Ye-Min, HD’s Regional Director based in Singapore.
“In our increasingly unstable world, it is ever more important to bring conflict parties together in safe places where they can find common interests, reduce tensions and resolve conflicts. Private philanthropy can be a force for good by supporting our peacemaking work as we deepen collaboration and dialogue across communities, civil society, governments and other key parties.”
The Nagulendran Philanthropy Alliance, a private philanthropic platform, is the founding donor of the HD Asia Peace Fund.
The alliance, founded by Singaporeans Dorothy and John Nagulendran, will support HD’s outreach to global family offices, private philanthropists, charitable foundations and other philanthropic donors to build greater awareness of HD’s work in Asia to contribute to sustainable peace and stability.
In 2024, HD will host several events to share more about our work and priorities in Asia and explain how the private philanthropy community can make positive changes for peace.

In Asia, HD has pursued dialogue, mediation and peacemaking activities since 1999 when our team acted as a facilitator of the peace process in Aceh, Indonesia.
Since then, as our Asia and global operations have grown, we have been engaged in various peace processes in the region – from reducing armed conflict in Mindanao in the Philippines to addressing environmental issues that affect stability in the Bay of Bengal to helping open the way for delivery of humanitarian aid to those in need.
