In 2023, as part of the preparations for the IVCO conference hosted by Yayasan Sukarelawan Siswa (YSS) Student Volunteers Foundation in Malaysia, IAVE and Forum collaborated to commission a Challenge Paper on youth volunteering. This paper, “A New Generation of Volunteers as Changemakers,” authored by Dr. Moses Okech with Professor Matt Baillie Smith and Dr. Bianca Fadel, is part of IAVE’s series on youth volunteering and framed the discussions at Forum’s IVCO 2023 conference. Following the conference, Forum issued the Kuala Lumpur Call to Action, urging volunteering organizations to better recognize and empower young people as changemakers.
