The IACC Council chose to hold the next conference in Lithuania for its strategic importance and commitment to fighting corruption since gaining independence just over 30 years ago. The 2024 IACC will take lessons from Lithuania’s successes for the world to better understand how to uphold principles of anti-corruption, democracy and freedom.

Delia Ferreira Rubio, chair of Transparency International, said:
“Right now the world faces myriad threats to human rights and the global order – from the rise of kleptocracy and authoritarianism to climate change – and corruption fuels each of these challenges. The IACC presents an invaluable opportunity for world leaders to focus in on fighting corruption, to learn from each other and forge new partnerships going forward.”

Since 1983, the IACC has brought together policymakers, business leaders, civil society organisations and journalists from over 140 countries to highlight the global impact of corruption and how we can work together to fight it. The most recent conference, co-hosted by the US government in Washington, DC included over 2,000 leaders from all sectors and walks of life to address key issues from stopping the flow of dirty money to protecting democracy and global security. The 20th IACC featured speakers from US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and USAID Administrator Samantha Power to President of Moldova Maia Sandu and Head of Investigations at the Anti-Corruption Foundation Maria Pevchikh.

Huguette Labelle, chair of the International Anti-Corruption Council, said:
“We concluded the 2022 IACC by calling on world leaders to translate promises to fight corruption into concrete actions – because our shared future depends on it. The 2024 conference in Lithuania will be a crucial moment for policymakers, civil society and the private sector to take stock of their efforts and define new strategies to tackle emerging global threats and challenges.”

We encourage interested participants – including heads of state, policymakers, business leaders, civil society organisations and journalists – to reach out to the IACC team to learn how you can engage with the next conference, from developing the agenda to designing workshops. Latest updates, including the theme announcement, workshop calls and the opening of registration, will also be shared on our website in the coming months. We look forward to welcoming you in Vilnius in 2024.

About the IACC Series

The International Anti-Corruption Conference (IACC) is the world’s premier global forum for bringing together heads of state, civil society, the private sector and more to tackle the increasingly sophisticated challenges posed by corruption. Established in 1983, the IACC takes place usually every two years in a different region of the world, and hosts from 800 to 2000 participants from over 135 countries worldwide.

The IACC advances the anti-corruption agenda by raising awareness and stimulating debate. It fosters networking, cross-fertilisation and the global exchange of experience that are indispensable for effective advocacy and action, on a global and national level. The conferences also promote international cooperation among government, civil society, the private sector, and citizens by providing the opportunity for face-to-face dialogue and direct liaison between representatives from the agencies and organisations taking part.

Other IACC Initiatives

As the Conference only takes place every second year, the IACC team at Transparency International (TI) are involved in a number of ongoing initiatives to keep up momentum between Conferences. They include the IACC Social Entrepreneurs Initiative, the Young Journalists initiative, Fair Play Anti-Corruption Concerts, and series of Films for Transparency among others.
