The jobs of tomorrow, promoting the ecological transition, the preservation of biodiversity and the discovery of green resources, were at the centre of our latest Campus. At this event, middle and high school students were able to talk to experts about the employment world of the future.

ClientEarth: Our groundbreaking case against Shell’s Board of Directors

In February 2023, we filed a case against Shell’s Board of Directors for failing to move away from fossil fuels fast enough. This is the first ever case of its kind seeking to hold corporate directors personally liable. In May 2023, the UK High Court dismissed the case, but has since granted us an oral hearing at which we will ask the Judge to reconsider.

Amnesty International: Japan: Fukuoka ruling on same-sex couples shows progress on LGBTI rights

The court ruled that Japan’s ban on same-sex marriage was not unconstitutional and dismissed damages sought by the three couples. However, the court also recommended that Japan’s legislature make changes to the legal system that better reflect the changing dynamics of Japanese society, with particular regard to the rights of same-sex couples.

Asia-Pacific countries adopt 10 UN resolutions reaffirming commitments to protect the planet and its people

Governments from across Asia and the Pacific today endorsed a UN resolution to take urgent action to combat climate change and its impact. They re-committed to immediately curb greenhouse gas emissions – of which the region accounts for over half of the global emissions.

The Global Forum on Adaptive Social Protection will strengthen international commitment for supporting ASP. It will take stock of ASP implementation to date and derive lessons for the future. The event will take place in Berlin from 13 to 15 June 2023. It will be presented in English, but some of its sessions will feature simultaneous interpretation into French and Spanish.
